Thanks to everyone who sponsored me over the last 8 months. Between you all you’ve raised a total of £3,031.75 for KidsCan. This is a fantastic cause and I’ve every confidence that this money will help to make a real difference.
Thank you once again for your kindness and generosity.
What a brilliant morale boost just before we start LEL. Thanks to the generosity of my colleagues at Steria my sponsorship total has just rolled over £2,000! On top of that there’s a further £400 of gift-aid. It’s fair to say I’m pretty chuffed, and I’ll do my best to do everyone that sponsored me proud.
In 8 weeks time I’ll be well on my way to London with LEL due to start on Sunday the 28th July. So far this year I’ve done 2025 miles of specific training and 3042 miles in total. I still have a fair few more training rides planned, including a further four 200km audaxes and the Bowland Badass, a 168 mile and 18,000ft of climbing monster of a ride that is scaring me more than anything!
I’ve managed to gather £1,245 of sponsorship from kind souls up to now. That leaves me £255 short, so if anyone would like to give me, and the KidsCan cancer charity, a helping hand, that would be most welcome.
Many thanks to everyone that has sponsored me so far. I’m delighted that today my total broke through the £1,200 mark, which is 81% of my stated target of £1,500. On top of that will be a further £267.50 in GiftAid which is brilliant!
As regular readers of this blog will know, I’ve completed some charity bike rides before.
In 2010, myself and three friends rode from Land’s End to John o’ Groats in aid of the Christie cancer charity (and Macmillan). Between us we raised well over £10,000, and I was proud to raise £3,731 plus an additional £729 of gift-aid.
In 2011, I was part of a group who rode from London to Brussels in under 24 hours, raising over £30,000 for the British Heart Foundation. My personal sponsorship total for that was £1,660 plus £368 of gift-aid.
This year I’m riding London to Edinburgh to London, and I’m doing it for KidsCan. So far I’ve raised £1,080 against my target of £1,500, but it would be great to get somewhere near my previous totals. If you have sponsored me already, thank you so much. If you haven’t, the link is on the right.
What is interesting though is the change in me across that time period. Here are three pictures that perhaps best illustrate how cycling has helped me shed the timber!
Many thanks to everyone who has sponsored me so far. As you can see I’ve hit 40% of the target so far which is brilliant. If you haven’t yet sponsored me and feel this is a charity you can support then you can click the link to the right.
As regular readers will know I am riding London Edinburgh London this year and I am aiming to raise as much sponsorship money as possible for KidsCan, a charity that aims to cure kids with cancer. So that’s a total ride distance of 1400km in 116 hours.
Christmas is well out of the way and I’m guessing that today is payday for many people after a long wait! So I’m using this as a cheeky request for some sponsorship! You can click the button to the right of this post to sponsor me via justgiving, or you can text an amount to 70070 – just prefix it with LELA67 £nn (where nn is the amount).
