The weather forecast for the area suggested I had until 12 noon before the rain would bucket it down, as it has for seemingly most of the year. As it was it started after half an hour and it didn’t take long for the waterproofing to fail and me to get cold and wet. Still, as with most of this series of audaxes, there were plenty of large hills to climb and warm up!
As it was, I really enjoyed lots of this ride. The roads were quiet and despite the rain it was nice to be out. Macc Forest is a great place to cycle and I even bumped into a couple of work colleagues at the cafe in Buxton. And I shared a table with a young lad (I think he’s 8 – and his dad) who had done 33 miles that day. His biggest ride had been 75 miles. If he keeps that up he’ll be one to watch in the future.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to everyone who reads this blog – I hope you have a great time!
